Q:How long have you been at Harrisonburg?
I have been with the company for seven years now and I am a sales and leasing professional.
Q:What was your first job?
A:My first job was digging holes for raspberry plants on a raspberry farm.
Q:Who inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
A:That would be my brother. My brother David is in the car business has been in the car business much longer than I have and just kind of followed in his footsteps.
Q: What skill do you think everyone should learn?
A:Saving a life. A lot of things like, you know, the ambulance people do, the EMT, whether it be CPR or tourniquets, anything that you could do to help somebody that needs you on the spot.
Q:What are your pet peeves?
A:Crumbs in my bed or eating in the bed. Definitely. Crumbs in the bed. Can't stand it.
Q:Do you have traditions in your family?
We have turkey on Thanksgiving. That's our tradition.
Q:Do you cook? What’s your favorite recipe?
A:I do cook. Actually, before I got into the car business, I was in the restaurant business. So I've got about 17 years experience in the kitchen. I can't say that I have a favorite recipe. My favorite food is probably the most simple thing is fried potatoes and onions with jalapenos and garlic.
Q:What’s a book you recently read that you’d recommend to others?
A:Moby Dick. Call me Ishmael. Yeah. And I would recommend it because it's probably one of the best novels ever.
Q:What's your dream car?
A: That's all that's easy. 1967. Shelby, get 500. Eleanor Black. Black. You know, Henry Ford said you can have any color as long as it's black.
Q:What upcoming technological innovation will dramatically impact the industry in the next five years?
A: Well, I wouldn't know if it's such an innovation. I'm sure most people are thinking electric cars, but I think politics. Well, I mean, do you have the energy grid to power all these electric cars? It's going to be an interesting ride, to say the least.
Q: Favorite band ten years ago?
A: Ten years ago, I would say Dave Matthews.
Q: What shows are you watching?
A: Probably like the rest of America. Yellowstone. Just the drama the acting, the writing all around. it's a good series.
Q: What was your favorite music genre?
A:Oh, wow. I could go anywhere from Grateful Dead to Snoop Dogg. So it's all over the place.
Q:Any pets?
A: I have two dogs. They are just little balls of energy. Well, not little. They're big balls of energy. One name, d-o-g. And the other one is wisdom. D-o-g is a Malinois. And Shepherd Mix. And Wisdom is an Australian shepherd.
Q:Pineapple pizza. Yay or nay?
A:To each their own, we all come from different walks of life.
Q: What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career?
A:I never give up. You know, strive to be better every day. The more you learn, the better you'll be. So, you know, don't be afraid of, you know, criticism that can help make you better. Just, you know, listen to people that have been doing it for longer, that you learn as much as you can. Don't ever be afraid to learn more. The more you learn, the better you'll be. Knowledge is power.
What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?
A: Probably the fact that I’m a very good guitar player. I don’t think a lot of people would know that now because it’s been a while since I played music with anyone. I played a lot growing up and I used to be pretty good.
